Bio

Dr. Claudio Lamartina graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1974 with 110/110 cum laude with participation in the Albanian Prize at the University of Palermo, he specialized in 1977 in Anesthesia and Reanimation and in 1980 in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the University of Milan. Works since 1975 at I.R.C.C.S. Galeazzi Orthopedic Institute of Milan, where from 2000 to 2016 he was responsible for the II Section of Spine Surgery. Since 2003 he has been an Adjunct Professor at the School of Specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the University of Milan, and in charge of the Reference Center for Spine Surgery for AOSpine European Regions (www.aospine.org). Since 2008 he has been a contract professor of the School of Specialization of Neurosurgery at the University of Turin. Since 2016 he is co-director of the spinal surgery department GSpine4 and director of the spinal research program of the I.R.C.C.S Galeazzi Orthopedic Institute. He took care of his training by attending some of the most important Spine Surgery Centers in Italy and abroad. He is a member of numerous Scientific Societies: Italian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology, G.I.S. Italian Society of Spine Surgery, Spine Society of Europe, AOSpine and Solas. He has been Chairman of the European Board and member of AOSpine and member of the AO Foundation. He is Deputy Editor for Clinical Science of European SpineJournal. He is the author of over 100 scientific publications in Italian and foreign magazines. Performs more than 100 complex vertebral surgery a year on average in Italy and abroad, and has a personal experience of over 3000 complex spinal surgery performed as the first operator..
