Musculoskeletal Modeling

Musculoskeletal models compute muscles forces and intersegmental loads acting during the execution of specific imposed kinematics, through an inverse dynamic approach. They represent a powerful tool to non-invasively investigate the relation between the human motion and the internal biomechanical loads. In particular, the lab exploits AnyBody(TM) musculoskeletal modeling software with the aim of assessing spine biomechanics in physiological activities (training, ergonomics and rehabilitation) and pathological scenarios (spine deformities and surgical fixation strategies). To drive the musculoskeletal models, motion capture is exploited to record and characterize the body movement during the execution of specific tasks.
