Laboratory of Biotechnological Applications – Brini, Anna

Bio

Anna Teresa Brini, researcher and adjunct professor of Pharmacology at the Università degli Studi di Milano, is Director of the Laboratory of Biotechnological Applications. She received her Master degree in Biological Sciences at the Università degli Studi di Milano and her PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology. She spent several years abroad during her Phd at the National Cancer Institute in Frederick- MD USA and during her Postdoc at the National Institute of Health in Rockville-MD under the supervision of Prof. J-P Kinet, an immunologist dedicated to the IgE system. She is a researcher at the Department of Biomedical, Surgical and Dental Sciences and Adjunct Professor of Pharmacology at the Dental School. In the last ten years her main research interest focused on the features of Mesenchymal Stem/Stromal cells (MSCs), their applications in the musculoskeletal tissue regeneration and on their secretome as therapeutic agent. More recently she wanted to investigate bone tumors and, in collaboration with Prof. F. Latif of the Birmingham University, some epigenetic and genetic alterations have been found and they could have some prognostic implications. She is the Scientific Director of STaMeTec “ Staminali Mesenchimali per Terapie Cellulari” a Research Center of the Università degli Studi di Milano. She is author of more then 70 scientific papers in international peer-reviewed journals and her H Index is 21 (Scopus).
She is qualified as Associate Professor by National Academic Boards in both Pharmacology and Applied Biology. She is member of the National Society of Pharmacology and one of the founders and board members of the GISM “Gruppo Italiano Cellule Staminali Mesenchimali”.
