Bio

MSc in Biology (1989), PhD in Human Physiology (1994) at the University of Milan, Italy. Associate Professor in Dentistry at the University of Milan, Department of Biomedical, Surgical & Dental Sciences. Director of the PhD program in Oral Sciences, University of Milan.
Past Director of the Research Centre for Oral Health, University of Milan. Head of the Section of Oral Physiopathology at the Galeazzi Orthopedic Institute, Milan.
Main research topics: periodontology, implantology, osseointegration, bone biology, physiology of bone grafts, biomaterials for bone regeneration, transplantation and tissue engineering in dentistry.
Involved in the following research topics: Physiopathology of periodontal and peri-implant tissues, biology of osseointegration, graft physiology, tissue regeneration techniques, tissue engineering, biology and clinics of platelet concentrates, systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
Reviewer of the Cochrane Oral Health Group (COHG) for endodontic surgery topics.
Founding member and Directory Board member of the Academy of non transfusional hemocomponents (ANTHEC). Member of the Italian Society of Endodontology (SIE), Italian Society for the Study of Bisphosphonates in Odontostomatology (SISBO). Member of the Interdisciplinary Centre of Nanostructured Materials and Interfaces.
Invited lecturer at several Universities worldwide on dental implants and endodontics topics (Tel Aviv, New York, Goteborg, Bergen, Santander, Amsterdam, Murcia).
Associate Editor of Journal of Investigative and Clinical Dentistry. Editorial Board member of several international impacted Journals.
Author of >350 publications, of which more than 250 indexed on Pubmed; Editor of 4 books, author of about 40 book chapters.
